MINI INCUBATOR
This tiny incubator has been designed as an aid in molecular science, in particular to allow lysis of samples for nucleic acids extractions (see here).
The water bath is an aluminum cylindrical container and the heating element, a polyamide sheet flexible one (see below) , has been glued around it.
The controller, in conjunction with the temperature probe allows fine regulations to .1 C, with programmable hysteresis down to .5 C and delayed intervention possibility.
A relay operates the heating element; at 16.5 V it absorbs around 900 mA, yielding a dissipated power of about .9*.9*18=15 W.
The thermal insulation is quite good and the overall power consumption is very low.
